I don't live in the UK. Can I still enrol and benefit from your courses?

Yes, you can do some of them. You cannot do our Becoming a Personal Trainer or Hybrid Personal Trainer qualifications, as these require in-person attendance. All of our specialist courses and the Online Coaching Blueprint are all online and you can enrol on.

What prior education or experience do I need to study Personal Training with the PTC?

You don’t need any previous qualifications or experience. It would help to have the passion to learn and ambition to run a successful PT business.

Can I study to become a Personal Trainer while I'm already working or going to University/College?

Yes - We offer a lot flexibility. Our courses are available online and you can study at your own pace, whenever you want, however you prefer to study. Our L2/L3 PT courses require two in person weekends, but you can book on to dates and locations that suit you. The tutoring sessions are primarily in the evenings. 

Can I do specific courses on their own?

Yes, you can enrol in any of our specialist courses individually.

How are your certifications taught?

Our Level 2 and Level 3 are “blended learning”. The majority of the course is accessed online, with two practical assessment weekends. All of our other courses are completely online, delivered via our own e-learning software.

Are the PTC certifications accredited by a national governing body?

Yes. Our Becoming A Personal Trainer and Hybrid Personal Trainer courses are endorsed by Active IQ. 

What do I get when I complete the course?

As long as you have no outstanding payments, you will receive a certificate from the PTC. You will get a certificate from Active IQ if you complete Level 2 and Level 3 and have no outstanding payments.

Will I be insured to give training and nutrition advice if I do the course?

All of our Personal Training courses allow you to get Public Liability Insurance through Financial Fitness Ltd. As a PTC student, you will get one month free.

If I don’t like the course, can I get a refund? 

The deposit for level 2 and level 3 is non-refundable. Any other fees are refundable during the 14-day statutory period. After this period, you are liable for the whole cost of the course if you are on the pay monthly option. 

What is the non-refundable deposit? 

£249 – this is for the fee we pay for your Active IQ materials and registration fees. 

How are your Personal Training courses assessed?

Level 2 and level 3 are assessed in person at an assessment day. All our other courses have multiple-choice exams which you take online. 

When and where are the practical days/assessments taking place?

We have locations in London, Manchester, Birmingham and more coming soon. The locations are determined by total number of students and their locations. Dates will be throughout the calendar year and the number of practical/assessment weeks will be determined by the cohort number of students. 

What should I do if I have technical difficulties during the course? 

Email [email protected] with a screenshot of the issue and we will sort it out ASAP. 

What if I miss a week or two because I am ill, or I go on holiday? 

Not a problem. All PTC learning is done at your own pace. The lectures are online so you can’t miss one. 

What if I already have a level 2 fitness instructor qualification? 

Just show us proof of your certification and we can invoice you individually. Email [email protected] with your subject Level 2 verification. 

Do I need to do anything between enrolling and the start of the course? 

If you are doing level 2 or level 3, you will need to confirm your address and provide a form of ID. 

How will the PTC’s specialist courses help me have a career in fitness or work as a Personal Trainer?

Our brilliant specialist courses help you develop deeper knowledge in niche areas, so you to take on a larger variety of clients and charge more as a specialist. 

What is CIMSPA? 

CIMSPA stands for the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity. It is the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector. Active IQ qualifications (like our level 2 and level 3) are recognised by CIMSPA. 

What is CPD? 

This means Continuing Professional Development - it might be referred to as CEUs if you are in the USA.

Are PTC qualifications internationally recognised? 

The Active IQ Level 2 & 3 qualifications are recognised in the UK and in other international countries. We recommend you speak to your country’s specific awarding body to get the most up to date answer. 

Can I pay in installments? 

For most courses yes you can. The course payment options are available on the course pages. .

How old do I need to be to do the course? 

You need to be 18 years of age or over.

How long do I have to complete the certification? 

You need to complete your certification within 12 months from your start date. 

What happens if I fail my assessments? 

For level 2 and level 3, you have two attempts (included in the cost of your course). If you need a third attempt, you will have to pay £50 (because we need to pay additional fees to tutors and assessors). The specialist courses you get two attempts to pass. 

When will I receive my certificate? 

If you have paid in full for the PT Core and your chosen specialist courses, you will get an electronic certificate when you pass. We print physical PTC certificates every quarter. If you are on a monthly instalment plan, you will receive your certificate once we have received all your payments. For level 2 and level 3, Active IQ will send your certificate when you complete the level 2 and level 3 assessments. 

Does your Personal Trainer certification guarantee an interview once I qualify? 

Yes, once you pass your Personal Training qualification you will be guaranteed a job interview at Pure Gym. Pure Gym currently have 1.2 million members, 26000+ Personal Trainers, and over 240 gyms. If you are located in or around London we have also partnered with GymBox and all PTC certified trainers (complete their PT core alongside their level 2 and 3, will get a guaranteed job at GymBox.

How much are assessment re-sits? 

Re-sits costs £50 per assessment for the level 2 & 3. You have three attempts on the PT Core and two attempts for specialist courses. 

What is Active IQ? 

Active IQ is an awarding organisation for the active leisure, learning, and wellbeing sectors. It is recognised and regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales, and CCEA. Active IQ works with a network of approved training organisations (like us) to deliver its qualifications.
